Where to Buy
๐Ÿ“ Editor's Take Twelve reports, sixty fish, and a 21.7-inch best - the DriveBeaver is the most productive single bait in our whole dataset. What the numbers show is narrower than you'd guess: eight of those twelve came during the spawn, nine of them in 3-10 feet, and the free rig is the rig of record. Average water temp was 68F. That is a bait being used for one job - dragged and hopped along the bottom around bedding fish and heavy cover, in water shallow enough to see structure. It produced at six different Japanese reservoirs, from Nanairo to Iruka to Sagami, which tells you the pattern travels. If you fish a beaver in the US, the takeaway isn't the bait, it's the rig: Japanese anglers put it on a free rig, not a Texas rig, and let it fall on a slack line.
